Two-Factor Authentication

Two-factor authentication (2FA) enhances account security in MightyCall. In addition to a username and password, the users on the accounts with enabled 2FA will need to enter a randomly generated authentication code to log in. This ensures that even if someone's login credentials are compromised, unauthorized access is still prevented without the authentication code.

2FA methods in MightyCall

MightyCall supports authentication via several third-party applications, allowing users to choose the most convenient one:

  • Google Authenticator (Google Play, App Store): a simple and reliable application generating one-time codes for 2FA.

  • Microsoft Authenticator (Google Play, App Store): supports 2FA, passwordless login, and account synchronization with Microsoft accounts.

  • Authy (Google Play, App Store): provides cloud backup, multi-device support, and a user-friendly interface for 2FA.

How does 2FA work in web and desktop apps?

Upon the first login, after successfully entering a username and password, you will see a screen displaying a special QR code:

  1. Scan the QR code using your preferred authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy).

Important: Keep the authenticator app to generate the codes for future logins.

  2. Once scanned, the app will generate a one-time authentication code that will refresh periodically.
  3. To complete the login, enter the valid code within the given time frame. If the code expires, you'll need to use a newly generated one.

  4. Upon verifying the code, you will be logged in. Future logins will follow the same process.

If you haven't scanned the code, you'll be prompted to reset your 2FA in order to generate a new one.

How does 2FA work in mobile apps?

When logging into the mobile application, you will need to enter the authentication code generated by your selected authenticator app.

What should I do if the access to the authenticator app is lost?

  1. On the authentication code request screen, click the link Didn't scan the code or lost access to the authenticator app? to request a code reset:

  2. An email with a one-time verification code to reset your 2FA will be sent to your current address on the MightyCall account. For security reasons, the code will be valid only for 15 minutes.
