Taxes & Fees

MightyCall charges taxes and fees associated with providing VoIP services in jurisdictions where local regulations require us to collect them. This section goes over items that you may see on your invoice.

Does MightyCall pricing include taxes?

No. The pricing you see on MightyCall pricing page is meant to be applicable to all customers across the United States and Canada, and thus does not include taxes.

How are taxes calculated?

Tax charges are calculated based on the following factors:

  • The customer’s location of service usage, as determined by their billing address.
  • Tax regulations in the country applicable to MightyCall.
  • Products consumed by the customer in the billing period.
  • Tax status of the customer, such as non-profit or tax-exempt companies.

Which address was used to assess my applicable taxes?

MightyCall will only use your billing address (the address registered to your credit card payments) to determine taxes. To provide transparency and reduce confusion, you can find the address used for taxation on your invoice.

We will verify your billing address as tax assessable by our tax compliance provider. If we do not have your valid billing address, we can’t determine taxes for your usage and an invoice can’t be generated for you. Please ensure your billing address is complete and valid.

Can I update my billing address at any time?

Yes. Your billing address can be updated any time you want in Account > Billing.

Per our standard operating procedures, we do not adjust the billing or invoicing of a closed billing period. MightyCall will not recalculate and charge taxes from previous billing periods, as any updates will only apply to future billing periods.

When does MightyCall charge taxes?

In addition to the subscription plan fee billed, surcharges, taxes, fees, and other charges may be applied to your prepaid monthly invoice. If your account is billed annually, you will be charged for 12 months of applicable taxes and fees at the time of purchase.

Which taxes are charged by MightyCall?

Your MightyCall subscription covers the following:

  • 911 Fee;
  • Federal Universal Service Fund;
  • Federal Regulatory Assessment Fee;
  • State, Local, and Provincial Taxes, etc.

911 Fee

This is a charge imposed by local governments to help pay for emergency services such as fire and rescue.

Federal Universal Service Fund

This fee is used to recover contributions MightyCall is required to make to the Federal Universal Service Fund, which is used to promote the access of telecommunications services at reasonable rates for those living in rural and high-cost areas, income-eligible consumers, rural health care facilities, and schools and libraries. MightyCall is permitted, but not required, to recover these costs from its customers.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) sets the applicable USF rate on a quarterly basis and is subject to change. Learn more here.

Federal Regulatory Assessment Fee

This fee goes to the Interstate Telecommunications Relay Service (TRS) Fund, which is used to support communications services for persons with hearing or speech disabilities and those who are deaf-blind. Learn more here.

State, Local and Provincial Taxes

These taxes are imposed by State (US) or Provincial (CAN), local, and municipal governments.

Where can I find tax invoices?

You can see your most recent billing period charges in the Billing section of your account. You can also download invoices from there if needed.
