Polycom IP and VVX Configuration Guide

This article describes the configuration of most Polycom phones of VVX and IP series. The only difference would be the lack of some features or some extra features that don’t affect registration.

Get your credentials here: Settings > Forwarding Numbers > Get connection details.

Web GUI Settings → Lines → Line 1 Identification

  • Display Name = what will be displayed
  • Address = Extension
  • Authentication User ID = from the connection details
  • Authentication Password = from the connection details
  • Label = Extension
  • Third Party Name = Extension
  • Number of Line Keys = 4 (the actual number depends on the model)
  • Calls per line = 1
  • Ring Type = that’s the sound of the ring.​

IMPORTANT: The Polycom phones have a known bug: only ring types 1-13 (except for the splash ringtone (#10) and 15 work correctly.

Under Outbound Proxy

  • Address = Outbound Proxy (ccecsp.mightycall.com:16060, in most cases :16060 string is not needed, but it needs testing)
  • Port = 16060
  • Transport = UDPOnly

Under Server 1

  • Address = SIP Domain (ccecsp.mightycall.com:16060, in most cases :16060 string is not needed, but it needs testing)
  • Port = 16060
  • Transport = UPDOnly
  • Expires = 300
  • Retry Timeout = 0
  • Retry Maximum count = 3
  • Line Seize timeout = 30

NOTE: some models may prefer Expires set to 180 though 300 is deemed to be the correct one.

Under Message Center

  • Subscription Address = Actual Extension as in the Address field above

  • Call Back Mode = Registration

Web GUI Settings → Network → NAT

  • NAT Keep Alive = 20 seconds

Web GUI Settings → SIP → Local Settings

  • Local SIP Port = typically, are used ports 16000, 16001, 16002, etc. Do not assign ports below port 1024.
  • Calls Per Line Key = Leave Default
  • Type = Private.

If the phone is brand new, has never been configured yet or was hard reset, then proceed with the following step:

Web GUI Settings → SIP Local Settings Digitmap

Enter the following to support Ext Dialing (Only enter the one that applies to your Ext numbering):

• For 3-digit extension: 011xxx.T|1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxx|[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxx|[2- 9]xxxxxxT|0T|*xx.T|[2-9]11|1[01]x|xxxT|9xxxT|*99xxx

• For 4-digit extension: 011xxx.T|1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxx|[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxx|[2- 9]xxxxxxT|0T|*xx.T|911|[2-8]11T|xxxxT|*99xxxx

• For 5-digit extension: 011xxx.T|1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxx|[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxx|[2- 9]xxxxxxT|0T|*xx.T|911|[2-8]11T|xxxxxT|9xxxT|*99xxxxx

• For 6-digit extension: 011xxx.T|1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxx|[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxx|[2- 9]xxxxxxT|0T|*xx.T|911|[2-8]11T|xxxxxxT|9xxxT|*99xxxxxx


Web GUI Preferences → Date and Time

• Under Display Format, choose the format to display (default is 12 hours).

• Under Time Synchronization, choose your time zone and the SNTP server of your choice. Though it doesn’t look like one, it is an important step, as sometimes registrations issues are merely caused by the timezones not synchronized.

Don’t forget to click Save button on each page!


After all these settings are good, the configuration is done. The phone will restart itself. Do not unplug the phone from the power while it's restarting. The phone may restart several times, do not interrupt this process.
