National DNC Registry Compliance
As a telecommunications provider, MightyCall is keeping up-to-date with the evolving industry regulations. Our customers can be sure the calls they make are in compliance with national consumer protection policies, for example, those outlined in the National Do Not Call (DNC) Registry.
What is the National Do Not Call Registry?
The National DNC Registry is a database of phone numbers provided by individuals who would like to reduce the number of telemarketing calls they receive. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the government agency responsible for protecting consumers, along with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and state authorities, are responsible for enforcing this registry.
How does the DNC Registry work?
Any individual can add their landline or cell phone number(s) by calling the toll-free number +1 (888) 382-1222, or by submitting the number(s) online at DoNotCall.gov.
Once the number has been added, it stays there until the owner asks for the FTC to remove it, or if the number is disconnected or reassigned. Companies using the registry are required to sync with the DNC Registry at least every 31 days.
A consumer who receives a telemarketing or sales call despite being on the National DNC Registry for more than 31 days can file a complaint with the FTC.
What area codes are included in the DNC Registry?
The area codes in the National DNC Registry cover the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Guam, North Mariana Islands, American Samoa, and toll-free numbers (500, 800, 866, 877, 880, 881, 882, and 888).
Are all calls to the DNC Registry numbers prohibited?
All telemarketing and phone sales businesses must comply with the DNC Registry. However, it doesn't cover calls from political organizations, charities, surveyors, or companies with which a consumer has an established business relationship within the past 18 months.
If a consumer receives a call from any of the organizations listed above that includes a sales pitch or solicitation, they can file a complaint with the FTC as well.
Are there penalties for calls to the DNC Registry numbers?
Calling a number on the DNC Registry may result in a penalty up to $51,744 per case, along with legal action or even revocation of the business license for repeating violations.
How are my calls in MightyCall affected?
Campaign calls to the phone numbers on the National DNC Registry are currently restricted in the service.
We respect the privacy choices of the individuals who requested to have their phone numbers added to the national registry. We also ensure our customers are safe from calling compliance violations that can cause severe penalties and other business complications.
Our National DNC List Scrubber tool is enabled for all campaigns by default and can only be disabled manually. Please note that by disabling the National DNC List Scrubber, you agree and acknowledge full responsibility and liability for all acts or omissions that occur under your account, including without limitation the content of the messages and calls transmitted through the MightyCall.
